Classic Chevrolet Heartbeat of America Handicap Highlights Opening Night on Friday
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Thursday, September 16, 2010) -
Five Star Partner’s Streakin Illusively, trained by Judd Kearl,
leading conditioner at the recently concluded 2010 American Quarter
Horse Meet at Sam Houston Race Park with 53 wins, headlines the
13th running of the $25,000 Classic Chevrolet Heartbeat of America
Handicap, to be run at 350 yards, for accredited Texas-bred three-year-olds
and upward, on Opening Night at Lone Star Park this Friday.
A winner of eight of 25 career starts for $140,997 in earnings,
Streaking Illusively will be ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo who topped
the rider standings with 47 victories at the 2010 Sam Houston American
Quarter Horse Meet. A Sorrel son of Streakin La Jolla, Streakin
Illusively has recorded a win and two runner-up finishes from seven
starts at Lone Star Park, including a fourth-place finish in the
Grade 1 $426,375 Dash For Cash Futurity in 2006, and a fourth in
the Classic Chevrolet Heartbeat of America Handicap last year.
“When we brought him to Sam Houston back in June, we dropped
him in class a little bit and it seemed to really help him build
his heart back up,” said his trainer Judd Kearl. “He’s
doing super and we expect him to run a big race.”
A top contender in the Classic Chevrolet Heartbeat of America
Handicap is Ocean Fun, trained by Alfredo Triana, a winner of two
of 14 starts for $73,427, including a couple of fourth-place finishes
in Grade 3 races in two of his last three starts. Also of note should
be the John Buchanan-trained entry of Heavy Croozer and Chasing
the Cheese. The former will be ridden by Ricky Ramirez, leading
rider the past two seasons at the Fall Meeting of Champions with
39 victories in 2008 and 32 in 2009.
The field from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds
listed in parenthesis, consists of: Heavy Croozer (Ricky Ramirez,
9-5); Opalesce (Gasper Garcia, 12-1); Streakin Illusively (Rodrigo
Vallejo, 3-1); Jc Ladies First (Jose Alvarez, 8-1); Eye It Is (Manuel
Lara, 20-1); Bar Winning Jet (Donaciano Arriaga, 15-1); Ocean Fun
(Francisco Ramirez Jr., 5-2); Okasetti (David Alvarez, 20-1); and

Heartbeat of America Handicap has an approximate post time of 9:47
p.m. CDT.
