THP Urges Members to Contact Their Legislators
in Support of VLT Legislation On April 29, the Texas Horsemen's
Partnership sent out letters to its 5,000 members urging them to write
both their state senator and house member in support of legislation authorizing
video lottery terminals at racetracks here in Texas. This legislation
would allow horsemen to receive an equitable portion of the revenue generated
by these machines through increased purses. As of May 12, over 1,100 members
have answered the call to action and sent letters or emails to their respective
legislators. We encourage everyone who has not yet done so to please write
their senator and house member and state their support for VLT legislation.
In addition, we ask that you also send a letter to Governor Rick Perry
as well. His address and phone number are:
Office of the Governor
P.O. Box 12428
Austin, Texas 78711-2428
Fax # 512-463-1849
Phone # 800-252-9600
Although there are still a few weeks left in the session, time is quickly
running out. If you have not received a letter from the Texas Horsemen's
Partnership about this matter and would like to help, please give us a
call at (512) 467-9799 or send us an email at trac@texashorsemen.com.
This is a critical time for our industry, and our voices need to be heard.
Thank you for your support in these endeavors!
