(Austin, Texas - Wednesday, December 2, 2009) - Governor Rick Perry has appointed Scott Haywood of Austin to the Texas Racing Commission (TxRC) for a term to expire on February 1, 2015. The commission oversees pari-mutuel wagering on horse and greyhound racin in Texas.

Haywood is director of corporate communications for Astrotech Corporation and past director of communications for the Texas Secretary of State. He is a member of the Austin Chamber of Commerce. Haywood received a bachelor's degree from Trinity University.
