Governor Perry Appoints David Gregorio Cabrales to the Texas Racing Commission

Texas Governor Rick Perry has announced the appointment of David Gregorio Cabrales of Dallas to the Texas Racing Commission (TRC), which oversees pari-mutuel wagering on horse and greyhound racing. His term will expire on February 1, 2007.

Cabrales is a partner at Locke Lidell and Sapp, L.L.P., and serves as chair of the firm’s diversity committee. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association and the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association. He is also a board member of the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and a member of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas. Cabrales received a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and a law degree from Southern Methodist University.

Cabrales replaces Louis Sturns, who resigned from the TRC to accept his recent appointment as a commissioner of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Cabrales' appointment is subject to senate confirmation.
