Important Information for Texas Horsemen Regarding Depositing Checks into Your Horsemen's Bookkeeper Account (Austin, Texas - Wednesday, August 1, 2012) -
Federal banking regulations require that all checks for deposit be made payable to the company or organization for whom they are intended.
The Horsemen’s Bookkeeper and/or Texas Horsemen’s Partnership cannot accept checks for deposit into your horsemen’s account if they are made payable to anyone other than The Horsemen’s Bookkeeper or Texas Horsemen’s Partnership.
We are receiving large numbers of checks for stakes payments and deposits to horsemen’s accounts which are made payable to a racetrack, the Texas Racing Commission, another individual, or to a particular stakes race name. We cannot accept these checks for deposit because our bank will decline them.
Since Texas has a centralized horsemen’s bookkeeper system, operated by the horsemen’s organization, checks made out to a racetrack will be returned. All checks to be deposited into your horsemen’s account for ANY reason (stakes, nomination, time of entry, start fees, jockey fees, etc) MUST be made payable to The Horsemen’s Bookkeeper.
Please do not take a chance that your stakes payment will not be made on time by sending checks made payable to anyone other than The Horsemen’s Bookkeeper for deposit into your account.
We appreciate your understanding and your assistance in helping us comply with federal banking regulations.
