In light of the dry conditions that have led to many wilfires across Texas in recent weeks, Governor Rick Perry has tasked all state agencies to get more proactive about their fire education and prevention efforts. Heeding the Governor's call to action, the Texas Horsemen's Parntnership and the Texas Racing Commission, in conjunction with Sam Houston Race Park, are hosting a free lunch and fire safety seminar for horsemen at Sam Houston Race Park on Friday, January 13.

The free lunch and fire safety seminar will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Homestretch Cafe at Sam Houston Race Park. In addition to a free lunch, all attendees will receive an embroidered THP sweatshirt.

The dry weather conditions endured by most of Texas in recent months makes fires a very real and dangerous threat to horsemen, their property, their horses, and the racing and training facilities in the state. Please take this threat seriously and attend Friday's lunch and seminar if you are in the Houston area.
