Breeders' Cup Legends Tour Coming to
Sam Houston Race Park October 15 Sam Houston Race Park will
host the Breeders’ Cup World Championships Legends Tour, featuring
Hall of Fame jockeys Pat Day, Angel Cordero, Jr. and Laffit Pincay, Jr.,
at The Park on Wednesday, October 15, 2008. The multi-city tour, which
will make stops in 11 major cities traveling from coast to coast, offers
sports fans the opportunity to meet the legendary riders as well as view
memorabilia, historic photographic displays and memorable moments from
one of racings most prominent events.
The three legendary jockeys participated in the inaugural Breeders’
Cup which took place at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California, in 1984.
Pat Day rode Wild Again to victory in a tight three-horse race, with a
photo finish revealing Day’s victory over Pincay’s mount,
Gate Dancer, and Cordero’s ride, Slew of Gold.

Belmont Park & Sports Museum of America, New York (Oct. 2); Meadowlands,
New Jersey (Oct. 3); Laurel Park, Maryland (Oct. 4); Philadelphia Park,
Pennsylvania (Oct. 5); Keeneland, Kentucky (Oct. 9); Arlington Park, Illinois
(Oct. 10); Lone Star Park, Dallas, TX (Oct. 14); Sam Houston Race Park,
Houston, TX (Oct. 15); Wynn Las Vegas (Oct. 16) and will conclude at the
Breeders’ Cup World Championships, Santa Anita, CA, on October 24
& 25, 2008.
This 25th Running of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships will
receive an unprecedented nine hours of live coverage on ABC and ESPN,
and be broadcast to a global audience in more than 120 countries. Domestic
coverage begins on Friday, October 24 on ESPN2 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. (ET).
The coverage continues on Saturday, October 25 on ABC from 1:00-3:30 p.m.
(ET) and concludes on ESPN from 3:30-7:00 p.m. (ET).
The Park will celebrate the 25th Running of the Breeders’ Cup
World Championships presented by Woodford Reserve and the Houston Chronicle
with a series of events on Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25,
2008. Racing fans across the country are eagerly awaiting the potential
match up of 2007 Horse of the Year Curlin and dual classic winner Big
Brown. The weekend of live racing action will be simulcast from Santa

Ticket packages for Saturday’s events start at $15 per person
and include reserved seating, simulcast racing program, tip sheet, concession
entrée and a beverage. Breeders’ Cup administers the Breeders’

consisting of 14 races and $25.5 million in purses. The organization also
