Sam Houston Race Park has cancelled live racing and all simulcast events for Friday, September 12 and Saturday, September 13, 2008, due to inclement weather anticipated by Hurricane Ike’s projected landfall along the Texas coast. The Park will not reschedule live racing events.

The Park will not hold training sessions over the weekend and will evaluate conditions in order to consider opening for training again on Monday, September 15.

At this time, The Park plans to remain open for simulcast operations on Thursday, September 11 unless otherwise posted. The Park will make the determination to open for simulcasting events only on Sunday, September 14 based on weather conditions over the weekend.

The Texas Horsemen's Partnership office at SHRP will close at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, and will reopen when the weather improves following the hurricane.
