Sam Houston Race Park invites racing fans, old and new alike, to a week-long celebration event at The Park, beginning with a special morning breakfast event and thrilling live racing with Texas Stallions Stakes on Saturday, February 16.

The event will kick off Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. in the South Paddock with a complimentary pancake breakfast and Town Hall Meeting, which will feature an overview of The Park’s direction for racing and events for 2008 and the introduction of The Park’s new loyalty program, Park Rewards, presented by Chief Operating Officer Andrea Young and The Park’s senior management team. The event will also include a question and answer session immediately following the presentation.

The Texas Stallions Stakes, a Texas Thoroughbred social event highlighting two high dollar stakes races: the $125,000 Jim’s Orbit Stakes Race and the $125,000 Two Altazano Stakes Race, along with 8 other live racing events, will take place on Saturday evening. The event also includes a variety of promotional giveaways and contests in between each race throughout the night; a first-time fan education seminar with Martha Claussen of the Houston Chronicle with special guest, retired jockey Terry Stanton; as well as a handicapping seminar with Park announcer Michael Chamberlain, Denis Blake of The Texas Thoroughbred magazine, and Martha Claussen; and a performance from the YMCA Tractor Dancers!

Additional promotions and specials will continue throughout the week, including wagering specials for live racing and simulcasting events, food and drink specials, complimentary seating in the Player’s Lounge, complimentary racing programs, tip sheets, and more!

Schedule of Events

All specials listed will be available to fans throughout the day or during stated times for simulcasting events and for live racing. Simulcasting is open seven days a week beginning at 10:30 a.m. daily. Live Thoroughbred racing will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
