Former owner and longtime trainer Lloyd Paul Nepple passed away in his sleep on February 3, 2007, just a month and a few days short of his 60th birthday. A memorial service will be held in his honor at Retama Park on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel/Recreation Room.

Lloyd was born on March 25, 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska.

As a trainer, Nepple registered 69 victories, 95 second place finishes, and 109 third place finishes. His trainees earned a total of $437,436

In addition to owning and training racehorses, Nepple was very active in Boysville in the San Antonio, Texas area.

Mr. Nepple is survived by five children (one son and four daughters).
