Manor Downs Mixed Meet Underway
Manor Downs, just a few minutes east of Austin in Manor, Texas, commenced
its annual mixed meet last Saturday, February 24. The 18-day meet will
include live racing every Saturday and Sunday through Sunday, April 22.
First post time on race days will be 1:30 p.m.
Topping the meet’s stakes schedule will be the $75,000- added
Manor Downs Futurity (G1) at 350 yards for two-year-old Quarter Horses
and the 350-yard Manor Downs Derby (G2) for three-year-old Quarter Horses,
featuring a purse of $67,690 ($35,000 added and $32,690 carryover from
the 2006 Manor Downs Futurity). Both races will be contested on Sunday,
April 22, along with the $45,000-guranteed Manor Downs Thoroughbred Futurity
at 4 1/2 furlongs for 2-year-old Thoroughbreds.
Trials for the Futurity will be held on Saturday, April 7. Trials for
the Manor Downs Derby will be held on Easter Sunday, April 8.
Other notable stakes that will be conducted during the meet include
the $50,000 Longhorn Futurity (G2) for two-year-old Quarter Horses going
300 yards on March 17; the 350-yard Longhorn Derby (G2) for three-year-old
Quarter Horses on March 18, featuring
a $56,960 ($30,000 added and $26,960 carryover from the 2006 Longhorn
Futurity) purse; the $34,100 Manor Downs Maturity (G2) for older Quarter
Horses going 400 yards on April 21 ($25,000 added and $9,100 carryover
from the 2006 Manor Downs Maturity); the $45,000 Tony Sanchez Memorial
Mile, also to be run on April 21; and the $40,000-guaranteed Frances Carr
Distaff (G3) for Quarter Horse fillies and mares, three and up, going
350 yards on April 15
The Texas Racing Commission (TRC)’s licensing office will be open
Wednesdays through Sundays from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
The Manor Downs racing office will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Hours will be 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays
and Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Fridays, 8:00 a.m. until
a half-hour after the last race on Saturdays, and 10:00 a.m. until a
half-hour after the last race on Sundays.
The racetrack will be open for training Tuesdays through Fridays from
7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., with a 15-minute break for track maintenance
at 9:00 a.m. each day. The racetrack will also be open from 7:00 a.m.
– 10:00 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Timed works and gate works
will be available every day the track is open for training with the exception
of Tuesdays, when gate works will not be available. The track will be
closed on Mondays.
The horsemen’s bookkeeper office at Manor Downs is open from 8:30
a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday. On Saturday race days,
the office will be open from 8:30 a.m. until the last race of the day.
On Sunday race days, the office will be open from 12:00 p.m. until the
last race of the day.
