Health Fair Scheduled for May 20 at Lone
Star Park The Texas Horsemen’s Assistance Fund, Inc.
(THAFI) is kicking off its 2003 health fairs at Lone Star Park at Grand
Prairie on Tuesday, May 20, from 10:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. in the Thoroughbred
Sales Pavilion. Vendors are scheduled to be available for all currently
licensed trainers, assistant trainers, grooms and their immediate families.
All the services provided to participants are free of charge.
Health fairs at the Texas tracks debuted in 2002. Attendance and response
were excellent for these first-time events.
Vendors participating at the Lone Star Park Health Fair will include:
Corporate Health and Wellness Services performing blood pressure checks,
CBC blood screenings, cholesterol screenings, diabetes screenings, thyroid
screenings and prostate screenings; a local chiropractor; and a local
dentist. Prevent Blindness Texas will be back again this year to perform
vision screenings, and a new vendor that will participate this year is
Life Line Screening services.
Life Line Screening is America’s leading provider of quality health
care screenings. Their tests quickly detect arterial abnormalities, which
can cause irregular blood flow. Life Line Screenings are fast, accurate
and available free from THAFI.
Some of the Life Line Screening tests that will be available on May 20
at the Lone Star Park Health Fair are the stroke/carotid artery screening,
abdominal aortic aneurysm screening, and the peripheral arterial disease
screening. Life Line Screening will be available in the Horsemen’s
Kitchen at Lone Star Park for an informal question and answer session
at 11:00 a.m. and for pre-registration prior to the May 20 health fair.
The THAFI is excited to offer these types of screenings and services
to Texas horsemen. Make your plans now to attend.
