Lone Star Park Announces Purse Increase for Second Straight Fall Meeting of Champions Season for American Quarter Horses

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Thursday, October 9, 2014) - Lone Star Park racing officials announced a purse increase of at least $500 per overnight race for American Quarter Horses. The increase will go into effect on Thursday, October 16, 2014.

Track officials cited an increase in handle for the second straight year as the source of the added funds. An increase of about 10 percent was added to the Quarter Horse purses in 2013 and will be added again this year.

"We are excited to be able to increase the overnight purses again," said Lone Star Park Director of Racing Bart Lang. "Thanks to the horsemen that have delivered large competitive fields for our fans. It is great to be able to extend these additional funds to them."

Lone Star Park's 18th Fall Meeting of Champions Season for American Quarter Horses and mixed breeds is currently running each Thursday through Saturday. Gates open each day at 5:30 p.m. First race post time is 6:35 p.m. The meeting will conclude Saturday, November 15.
