Nevill Document Solutions Stakes Highlights Opening Night of Lone Star Park's Fall Meeting of Champions Friday

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Thursday, September 15, 2016) - Friday, September 16, marks the start of the 19th annual Fall Meeting of Champions Season for American Quarter Horses at Lone Star Park. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. First post time is 6:35 p.m.

Live racing will be conducted three nights a week through November 12 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 6:35 p.m. CDT. In addition to the live Quarter Horse racing action, Lone Star Park Bar & Book will be open seven days a week, as usual, for simulcast wagering on the best horse racing across the country.

Lone Star Park is hosting 19 stakes races over the 26-day meet, cumulatively worth an estimated $2.49 million. The finale, of course, is the richest race of the season - and the richest race run in Texas - the Grade 1, Texas Classic Futurity worth an estimated $1 Million on closing day, November 12.

Friday's opening night feature is the 19th running of the $20,000-guaranteed Nevill Stakes for Accredited Texas-Bred three-year-olds & up, at 350 yards.

Entered in the Nevill Stakes is 9-5 morning line favorite Kw Cowboy, owned by K & W Land & Cattle Co. and trained by Brian Stroud. The four-year-old gelding by Mighty Corona is on a roll. He has made four trips to the winners circle from six starts this year, only missing the other two by a head and by a nose. In his most recent, a starter handicap at Retama Park, he blew away the field by 2 1/4 lengths. Two races back, he posted a 1 1/4 length victory in the Jones Bloodstock Insurance Starter Stakes, also at Retama.

Another Brian Stroud trainee entered in the Nevill is Snipes and Bites, installed at 9-2 on the morning line. The five-year-old-gelding by Vroom, owned by Pete A. Scarmardo, just missed in his last, the Gentilly Dash Stakes at Fair Grounds in August. Hew was also the beaten favorite in the King William Handicap at Retama by a nose.

Ovidio M. Sandoval's Jumpn Streak is the morning line second choice at 7-2. The four-year-old Jumpin Chic gelding, trained by Josue Ponce, has won two of four starts for the year. He won the Streakin La Jolla Stakes at Louisiana Downs last March and more recently the Hill Country Classic at Gillespie in July.

Scheduled as race eight on the nine-race opening night program, post time for the Nevill Stakes is 9:37 p.m. CDT.

The field for the Nevill, from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds is: Pursuit of Duty (Jaquelyn Bobroff, 15-1); Rc Me Leaving You (Jose Amador Alvarez, 15-1); Fasttimeswith Redoak (Alejandro Medina, 30-1); Paloma Blanca B. (Gaspar Garcia, 5-1); Jumpn Streak (Manuel Gutierrez, 7-2); Shakem Valentine (Cesar Zuniga, 20-1); Kw Cowboy (Eddie Sanchez, 9-5); Snipes and Bites (Francisco Calderon, 9-2); and Iknow Heknows Iknow (Luis L. Vivanco, 8-1).
