17 Stakes Races Worth $2.5 Million Highlight Lone Star Park's 2011 Fall Meeting Of Champions Stakes Schedule (Grand Prairie,
Texas - July 18, 2011) - Lone Star Park’s 2011 Fall Meeting of Champions for American Quarter Horses will be highlighted by the 19th running of the Grade 1, $1 million-estimated, Texas Classic Futurity, the richest horse race in Texas, Saturday, November 12.
A total of 17 stakes worth an estimated $2.5 million, including four Grade 1 races and one Grade 2, will be run during Lone Star Park’s Fall Meeting of Champions. The 26-day meeting will be conducted from Friday, September 16 through Saturday, November 12 with racing every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night after opening weekend.
In addition to the Texas Classic Futurity, other Grade 1 stakes include, the $100,000 Refrigerator Handicap, Saturday, October 1, the $500,000-estimated Dash For Cash Futurity, Saturday, October 8 and the $400,000-estimated Texas Classic Derby, Saturday, November 12, the same night as the Texas Classic Futurity. The Grade 2, $175,000-estimated Dash for Cash Derby will be run the same night as the Dash For Cash Futurity, Saturday, October 8.
The $1,000,000 Texas Classic Futurity – the richest horse race in Texas – for two-year-olds and the $400,000-estimated Texas Classic Derby, for three-year-olds, are scheduled for closing night Saturday, November 12. The fields for the finals will be determined by the 10 fastest times during trials held Friday, October 21 for the Texas Classic Derby and Saturday, October 22 for the Texas Classic Futurity.
Saturday, October 8, Lone Star Park will host the $500,000-estimated Dash For Cash Futurity, the $175,000-estimated Dash For Cash Derby, as well as the $40,000-estimated Dash for Cash Juvenile Stakes. Trials for the Dash For Cash Derby are set for Friday, September 23 while the Dash for Cash Futurity and Juvenile Stakes trials are scheduled for Saturday, September 24.
In addition to Quarter Horse races, there will be stakes events for Paints & Appaloosas and Arabians. The sixth running of the $60,000-estimated Lone Star Park Paint & Appaloosa Futurity is scheduled for Friday, November 4, with trials to be held on Thursday, October 20 and the $20,000 Olympia Joe Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Handicap is scheduled for Friday, November 4.
On Saturday, November 5, Lone Star Park will host two divisions of the $20,000 Arabian Stallion Stakes – one for colts & geldings, the other for fillies & mares.
