Kentucky Oaks-Derby Attendance of 30,849 Third Highest All-Time at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - May 7, 2011) - Despite a Dallas Mavericks home playoff game against the Los Angeles Lakers Friday, and the New York Yankees visiting the Texas Rangers Friday and Saturday, 30,849 fans visited Lone Star Park. The third highest attendance for Oaks-Derby Weekend in track history, and a nine percent increase over the 28,379 that attended Lone Star Park for the same two days in 2010. The two-day total represents the highest since 1998 when 31,236 were in attendance.

30,849 racing fans watched Animal Kingdom, trained by Graham Motion and ridden by John Velazquez, win Kentucky Derby 137, and Plum Pretty, trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by Martin Garcia, win Kentucky Oaks 137.

In addition, $1,054,019 was bet on the Kentucky Derby today at Lone Star Park, and the total wagered on all races from Churchill Downs was $1,439,607.
