Lone Star Park Features Fun-Filled Promotions
for 2009 Spring Thoroughbred Meet Starting April 9 Lone Star
Park’s 2009 Spring Thoroughbred meet, which will be conducted from
Thursday, April 9 through Sunday, July 26, features a wide variety of
fun-filled entertainment to complement its exciting Thoroughbred racing
schedule.
The following are Lone Star Park’s 2009 special promotional days
–
Easter Sunday – Family Fun Day – April 12
Easter Sunday, April 12, features an Easter theme with an assortment of
activities for all ages and will be highlighted by appearances from Dora
the Explorer and the Easter Bunny. In addition, all children 12 and under,
will receive a free Easter Egg with a prize and are invited to participate
in special Easter arts and crafts. The first 500 children (12 and under)
in attendance will receive a free ticket to Six Flags Over Texas. Other
children’s activities include bounce houses, pony rides, a petting
zoo and face painters. For the adults, the jazz band Quartet will appear
in the Courtyard of Champions from noon to 4 p.m.
Cajun Crawfish Boil – Saturday, April 18
Lone Star Park’s Cajun Crawfish Boil on Saturday, April 19 in the
Courtyard of Champions will be highlighted by live Cajun music from Zedago
Texas from noon to 4 p.m. and a bucket of crawfish with new potatoes and
corn special.
Dollar Days – Saturday, April 25 and July 11
Fans are invited to enjoy $1 admission, program, hot dogs, popcorn, soft
drinks and beer while watching exciting stakes races on Lone Star Million
Preview Day, Saturday, April 25, and Stars of Texas Day on Saturday, July
11.
Kentucky Derby Day & Jose Cuervo Cinco de Mayo Celebration
– Saturday, May 2
Watch and wager on the 135th running of the Kentucky Derby from Churchill
Downs in the festive setting of the Jose Cuervo Cinco de Mayo Celebration
in Lone Star Park’s Courtyard of Champions. The celebration will
include the party sounds of Ice House from noon to 4 p.m. All fans in
attendance are encouraged to enter the Kentucky Derby Best Contest for
a chance to win one of two $500 prizes for most creative and most stylish
hats.
Memorial Day – Studs and Suds Micro Brew Festival &
Harley-Davidson Giveaway – Monday, May 25
Kick off the summer with the excitement of Texas’ richest day of
Thoroughbred racing, Lone Star Park Million Day, while sampling from among
more than a hundred microbrews and a chance to win a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle
at the Studs and Suds Micro-Brew Festival at Lone Star Park on Memorial
Day, Monday, May 25. The party band Professor D will provide live music
for the festival in the Courtyard of Champions from noon to 4 p.m.
Mother’s Day – Sunday, May 10
On Sunday, May 10, the first 500 women (age 21 and over) through the Grandstand
admission gates will have the opportunity to win a $2,500 diamond in the
Lone Star Park Mother’s Day Diamond Dig. The hunt will take place
on the main track following the final race of the day.
Preakness & Smirnoff Celebration in the Courtyard of Champions
– Saturday, June 20
Catch all of the action of the 134th running of the Preakness Stakes from
Pimlico in Maryland while enjoying live music by The Farside Band at Lone
Star Park’s Smirnoff Celebration in the Courtyard of Champions from
noon to 4 p.m.
Belmont Stakes & Crown Royal Craze in the Courtyard of Champions
– Saturday, June 6
Watch and wager on the third jewel of the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes
from Belmont Park in New York, in the fun atmosphere of the Crown Royal
Craze in the Courtyard of Champions on Saturday, June 6. Listen to the
blues and rock sounds of Russ Lowery & the Expressions from noon until
4 p.m.
Father’s Day – Sunday, June 14
The first 200 men (age 21
and over) to enter through the Grandstand admission gates will have the
opportunity to win a propane gas grill in Lone Star Park’s Father’s
Day Fishing Contest. The first contestant to catch the specially marked
fish in the special Father’s Day fish tank located in the Courtyard
of Champions wins. Each angler will have five minutes of fishing to win
the grand prize.
Lone Stars & Stripes Fireworks Celebration – Friday,
July 3 and Saturday, July 4
Two spectacular nights of fireworks will be held at Lone Star Park on
Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 following the live races, which begin
at 5 p.m. on both days. On Independence Day, Saturday, July 4, the track
will give away a trip for two with airfare and hotel accommodations to
the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida
on Sunday, Nov. 22. In addition to the fireworks and racing there will
be plenty of additional entertainment for the whole family such as pony
rides, a petting zoo, bounce houses, live entertainment, arts and crafts
vendors and much more.
Fan Appreciation Day – Saturday, July 25
Lone Star Park salutes its loyal fans on Saturday, July 25, with special
giveaways including prizes, gas cards, gift certificates and wagering
vouchers throughout the day.
Family Fun Park Days
On Saturday, May 2 and 9, Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, and Lone Stars
& Stripes Fireworks Days on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4, Lone
Star Park will feature a Family Fun Park with bounce houses, pony rides
and a petting zoo for the kids.
Senior Days – Every Sunday from April 12 to July 26
Every Sunday throughout Lone Star Park’s 2009 Spring Thoroughbred
Meet, from April 12 to July 26, is Senior Citizens’ Day. All senior
citizens, age 62 or older with valid I.D., receive free general admission.
Lone Star Park’s 2009 Spring Thoroughbred Season will run four days
a week every Thursday and Friday at 6:35 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday
at 1:35 p.m. starting on April 9. The Lone Star Million program on Memorial
Day will start at 1:35 p.m. and special twilight programs with post-race
holiday fireworks on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 (Lone Stars &
Stripes Fireworks Celebration) will commence at 5 p.m. (All times are
