LOPE Texas Holiday Stallion Season Auction
Underway LOPE Texas is currently conducting a holiday stallion
season auction at its website. LOPE Texas is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit devoted
to providing new careers for retiring racehorses of all breeds in Texas
that has, through its online services and ranch adoption center, transitioned
over 450 Texas ex-racehorses into new homes since 2003.
LOPE Texas has four very special stallion seasons up for auction. The
stallions are Tinner’s Way (winner of over $1.8 million and a son
of Secretariat), Special Rate (winner of over $187,000 and son of Pulpit),
Lil's Lad (winner of over $589,000 and a son of Pine Bluff), and Sand
Ridge (winner of over $708,000). These stallions' bloodlines also include
The Minstrel, Nureyev, Spend A Buck, and In Reality. Each of these stallions
have superb pedigrees for racing and for sporthorse breeding.
All four stallions stand at the Key Ranch in Salado, Texas. LOPE would
like to thank Phil Leckinger and Jerry Hardin for their generous donations
of the stallion seasons.
Also available in LOPE's holiday auction is a Secretariat poster signed
by jockey Ron Turcotte.
The online auction will end on December 20, 2006 -- just in time for
Christmas
