The Texas Horsemen’s Partnership (THP) is proud to welcome Classic Chevrolet as a corporate sponsor of the association. Located in Grapevine, Texas and owned by well known racehorse owner Tom Durant (owner of Classic Racing Stables), Classic Chevrolet is one of the largest Chevrolet dealerships in the nation.

According to Texas Horsemen’s Partnership Executive Director Tommy J. Azopardi, “I can't think of a better sponsor for our organization than Tom Durant and Classic Chevrolet. Tom has a long history of supporting this industry, and this sponsorship is just the most recent indication of his commitment to Texas horse racing.”

The Durant family has been in the Chevrolet business since 1960. Tom Durant has owned dealerships since 1972, and he purchased Classic Chevrolet in 1988. An opportunity to relocate in 1992 allowed Classic Chevrolet and its employees to move to Grapevine, Texas to an 11-acre, 65,000 square foot facility.

Over the course of the last ten years, Classic Chevrolet has expanded to 22 acres, with a new large truck center, a commercial specialty vehicle facility, an enormous separate building for pre-owned vehicles and a state-of-the-art body shop, making Classic Chevrolet one of the largest new and pre-owned vehicle retailers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Durant currently owns a total of six automobile dealerships: Classic Chevrolet and Classic Hummer in Grapevine, Texas; Durant Chevrolet, Durant Autoplex, and Mike Brown Ford, Dodge, Chrysler in Granbury, Texas; and Classic Lincoln/Mercury/Mazda/Isuzu in Denton, Texas.

According to Tom Durant, “I have always been a supporter of Texas pari-mutuel horse racing. I stabled outside of Texas for a short while, but I moved my horses back to Texas because I really want to support the Texas horse racing industry. Moreover, I want Classic Chevrolet to be a place that horsemen can go and know that they will be taken care of fairly.”

The Texas Horsemen’s Partnership, LLP (THP) is officially recognized by the Texas Racing Commission as the organization representing owners and trainers of horses racing in Texas. The THP is an alliance between the Texas Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association (HBPA), which represents owners and trainers of Quarter Horses, and the Texas Thoroughbred HBPA, Inc. (TTHBPA), which represents owners and trainers of Thoroughbred and Arabian horses. The THP is a member of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA).
