Sam Houston Race Park Honors its Six
Millionth Fan on November 9 Sam Houston Race Park marked
another significant milestone tonight as the 6,000,000th fan passed through
the turnstile on Saturday, November 9, 2002.
Regina Peska, a resident of west Houston, accompanied by her husband,
Robert and mother-in-law, Mary, arrived at the racetrack for a dinner
celebration with friends in the Winner’s Circle Restaurant. Much
to her delight, she was greeted by track officials informing her that
she was the six millionth fan. Peska received a complimentary dinner for
six in the Sam Houston Race Park Winner’s Circle Restaurant, a $600
betting voucher and many other gifts.
"I can’t believe it," exclaimed Peska. "The only
time I have ever won anything was in Las Vegas! We are really going to
enjoy this visit to Sam Houston Race Park."
Since opening in April 1994, Sam Houston Race Park has continued to
grow and reach new milestones. The one millionth fan visited on August
11, 1995; the two millionth fan visited on October 4, 1996; the three
millionth fan visited on May 21, 1998; the four millionth fan visited
on October 1, 1999 and the fifth millionth fan, Vicky Utesch was honored
on March 23, 2001.
Sam Houston Race Park continues to be one of the city’s most popular
sporting and entertainment attractions.
"It is a pleasure to celebrate these special occasions by honoring
nice people like the Peska family," said Sam Houston Race Park president
and general manager, Robert L. Bork. "This is just one highlight
of the 2002/2003 Sam Houston Race Park Thoroughbred meeting. We hope that
Regina and all her friends and family will return to Sam Houston Race
Park for Texas Champions Day and the NTRA Great State Challenge on December
7."
